The idea of an Arts Festival in Kingston began with the Arts Committee of the Kingston Public Library, whose general mission is to promote exhibits of local artists in the library's gallery. The Festival is intended as an intergenerational, educational and family-fun celebration of Kingston and the South Shore region's creative community in all of its aspects, including exhibits of fine art and cultural heritage, music, crafts and performing arts. Held in the Old Town Center where Kingston was first established, KAF seeks to honor the traditions and contributions of the past as we look to the future. In joyful observance of a new summer season, this is a time to come together in friendly competition, social enjoyment, cultural enrichment and civic pride.

In cooperation with the Festival, during the month of May, the Jones River Landing Environmental Heritage Center is sponsoring "Herrings Count! Fab Fish Art Contest", an artistic competition to honor our native anadromous species, currently in spawning season. For details, visit www.jonesriver.org.
